FILM: WATCHMEN

I went to see Watchmen, I went to see Watchmen..*dances and twirls*

I have a sore throat and I am tired, so thoughtful thoughts will have to wait, but it was a solid, enjoyable film, with excellent rendering of the graphic novel's visual aesthetic and content. JDM was great, the soundtrack was great, and I am looking forward to get the DVD with all the extra stuff that hopefully will be there. :D

The scene at the cemetary.... with The Comedian funeral was breathtaking, for me. The visuals were strong, and they used one of my favourite songs ever, The Sound of Silence, and it all falls and meshes together so incredibly beautifully...I loved it.

The rape scene...he doesn't actually rape SallyJupiter, in the sense that intercourse hasn't started yet when The Comedian is interrupted (but clearly would have happened if he wasn't). He does however beat her into submission in a brutal way and the scene is very hard, leaves you breathless for completely different reasons than the cemetery scene. Carla Gugino was fantastic in her part, imo, the way she owned the scene...and later on, too. How her character stands up and makes her choices, I saw her strong in the face of brutality, and I liked that.

Rorshach was great.

Also, I noticed quite a few comments about Dr. Manhattan's blue cock being around...well, he goes around naked, doesn't he? I personally thought that it was good that male genitalia were on screen (as so they rarely are)(unless you're watching porn, of course;) without any particular remark.

Anyway, tired :D
I liked it. :)

I still want Papa Winchester back, at least for the last season, in whatever form, even if only for a few minutes, dammit.
