sandy lane barbados

I don't think I would choose my hotel based on where a particular restaurant is.
Unless you plan to eat their every meal (or dinner anyway) and if you have the money to spend at the Cliff every night, then you might as well stay at Sandy Lane or Cobblers Cove or one of those (sorry just my opinion).
Restaurants are easily excessible by car/taxi/bus, especially along the west coast.
I'd say go with the type of hotel you want, and decide about the restaurants after.
Sorry, I haven't seen Crystal or Tamarind in a while.
Both are older hotels, but I'm sure they have been kept up to meet the clients needs.
And yes, no worries about the weather..
It will be warm..

Plenty of other(IMHO 'better') restaurants on the west and south coasts
As you are going to be spending more time in the hotel than anywhere else I would go for the hotel that is most appropriate for you ...whatever that might be ....and then travel to the restaurants
We have traveled up and down the west coast a fair amount and love the buses -- so we often go to a restaurant on the bus and then get a taxi back to the villa
We used to do AI ( but now do villas) and we have not been to the ABC since the refurbishment .
We loved it's location ....
You can walk to The Tides and many other excellent restaurants in Holetown and another attraction is that is child free

Personally I think you would enjoy somewhere like the Sandpiper, or Coral Reef, both 5 star hotels and both nearer to all the restaurants in Holetown.
Taxis are not expensive and a qick trip to the Cliff will be an easy option, There are so many other top class restaurants available, it would be a shame to confine yourself to an area where there is not much else, just for one restaurant, which in my opinion is not the most consistant.

Otherwise you may find yourself up on the stiffling third tier!
